The Private Kindergarten Program at Kirkpatrick Farms

Our kindergarten program is an accelerated program with a strong focus in reading and writing that will ensure children have a strong foundation for future learning. Unique to our program is the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum that is integrated into a traditional kindergarten classroom; children are introduced every day to STEM and are challenged to use concepts taught to construct objects that will be used to solve a problem.

This program appreciates the natural learning process of children and incorporates teaching methods that recognize and respects the way children learn best. Children have a natural curiosity and desire to construct things. Through exploration, and consistent, meaningful interaction with their teacher, children construct a deeper understanding of their world and how it exists through hands on projects and lessons.

About Me

I am Farida Mohamed, and I would like to introduce myself as your Director. I have ten years of work experience in early childhood education.   I received a master’s degree in Education from Helwan University in Cairo and a Master of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Hospitality and tourism Management (MSBA-HTM) from Virginia Tech. I was a Graduate Program Coordinator at Virginia Tech and a High School Teacher. I am originally from Egypt, have been married for ten years, and have three children. I enjoy traveling, shopping, and spending time with my children.

I chose to work in early childhood education because I have always enjoyed working with children. My favorite part of the day is seeing a child smile or learn a new skill. I believe that children are our future, and every child deserves the best start in life. Working in child care is an excellent way to make a genuine difference in the world while providing children with the fundamental skills they need to grow and succeed.

Highly recommend Merit School! We have been so happy with all of the teachers for many years and the effort, care they show and kindness to our kids everyday does not go unnoticed. The staff goes above and beyond to plan extra events and activities for our kids (during the school year and for summer camps). Our kids enjoy going to school every day. The facility is clean, safe, well maintained and we have been extremely pleased with our experience.

- E Williams, parent at Merit School Learning Center Kirkpatrick

Merit School is amazing! My daughter (3 years old) and son (1 year old) attend and love their teachers and the classrooms. It is a very welcoming environment with kind and caring teachers. My kids love the daily activities and we get updates in the app throughout the day. The teachers and center staff help my kids feel comfortable and thrive at daycare. This is especially important after we had a bad experience at a different local daycare. I so appreciate Merit and all they do for the kids in their care! I highly recommend this center for anyone looking for daycare for their children in the Aldie/South Riding area.

We love the staff and care that Merit School Learning Center provides. Such a warm and welcoming place for our child to go and everyone is super friendly. They are really great at creating fun activities for the children at a reasonable price.
