Our trained, experienced staff is dedicated to helping your child love learning. We offer infant, toddler, and preschool through school age care, teaching a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a literacy-enriched environment. We also offer before and after school care as well as summer camps. Our school is equipped with small, bright, classes for more individualized instruction. We incorporate all learning styles; auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic. Our goal is to create a well-balanced, age- and stage-appropriate curriculum for all of the children in our care.

Private School Kindergarten and Elementary (1st – 5th Grades)

About Me

My name is Ciara Callen and I would like to introduce myself as your center's Director.    In my free time, I enjoy exploring the Shenandoah Mountains with my husband and our Labrador, Leo.  I also enjoy shopping, spending time with my family, and gardening.

I graduated from York Tech in 2004 and received my CDA after completing the Early Childhood Education and Development program.  With more than 10 years of experience working with children, I have taught Preschool and Junior Kindergarten before moving into the Assistant Director position.  I joined the Merit School family in 2012 after moving to Northern Virginia.

I am committed to create high-quality programs and experiences for all of our children.  I am looking forward to working with our Merit School families and children to develop positive relationships and providing a safe and engaging environment.

The preschool feels like more of a family-like school atmosphere.  The administration, staff and teachers are very sensitive and caring.  After looking at many other preschool programs in the area, I fell in love with the way that they use a hands on learning (centers) approach in a facility that is clean and newly updated.  My daughter looks forward to spanish, music and her physical education classes that are offered weekly.  She begs to go to school!
