About Me

My name is Yolanda Parker, and I am honored to serve as the Principal at The Merit School of Prince William. I bring more than 20 years of experience working with School Age Care Programs. I earned an AA/Social Sciences degree and Early Childhood Education Certificate from Northern Virginia Community College and also attended the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA.   I am also a Red Cross certified CPR Instructor. My career began as an enthusiastic teacher in a School Age Care Program, and over time I was promoted to School Age Care Director and then School Age Care Field Director. In that role, I evaluated and assessed the quality, effectiveness, and compliance of nine before- and after-school programs, interviewed and hired staff, and managed a team of more than 35 employees. I also developed and implemented employee training to ensure the highest standards of care and learning. In 2016, I transitioned to the Merit School’s Education team as a School Age Care Support Specialist, where I provided training and support to lead teachers and administrators. I enjoyed working closely with staff to strengthen their classroom management, lesson plan implementation, time management, and strategies for fostering positive social skills. I also created and led trainings in areas such as team building, dramatic play, arts and crafts, science and technology, homework/quiet time, and full-day programming. I pride myself on being an engaged, collaborative, and goal-oriented leader. My passion is delivering high-quality programming for school-age children while continually striving to meet and exceed industry standards. My staff and I will work together to create activities that spark children’s interests and inspire them to be excited about learning and exploring in our program. I am excited to partner with you and your family as we help shape meaningful experiences for your children at The Merit School of Prince William. Respectfully,   Yolanda Parker, Principal
